So trying to lose weight during the Christmas and New Years holiday seems like it would be like trying to separate salt from ocean water. It’s doable but very difficult. I mean really, why go through all of that when I can get the holiday stress over with and then start? (The procrastination begins)
Here is what I’m going to do up to January 2nd. First I’m going to plan this out. I need to figure out what I’ll need to buy to accomplish this goal. And I’ll also need to see where I stand right now, get a baseline so I know where to improve. Then I’ll have to figure out what I need to cut out of my diet and how I’m going to burn more calories.
I’m going to need a scale. I don’t have one right now and I’ll have to be able to measure my progress. There is also a book that I am looking at reading. It is about diet and staying healthy I think. I’ll have to look when I get home and see what the name is. Another thing I want to get is a pedometer. There is one I have in mind but I’ll have to look at the model number in my notes from home. Is there anything else I will need? Maybe a modified grocery list. I will have to modify that as I go along as I discover what foods I’m eating that I shouldn’t and what I need to eat more of. (Buy a decent jump rope – added after the exercise paragraph was written.)
Ok so my next step is to see where I sit right now. One thing I need to do is record my daily intake of calories, carbohydrates, fats, etc. I will do that over the next several days. I’ll make a daily intake post so it will all be recorded here. Everyone will get to see all the garbage I eat…oh joy!
Exercise. Ya. Ummm…exercise. Well I could go back to martial arts. But I’m so out of shape that I probably would pass out after five minutes (excuse #1). And besides, it’s winter! I don’t really want to drive there after work and freeze my but off getting in and out of the car! (excuse #2). And it makes my nights longer since I can’t eat before going there. I’d have to eat after I get home and then I’d go to bed later and wake up late for work! (excuse #3). Now I could start slower with jump roping again. I did that for a couple of weeks and was getting better. But my thumb and shoulder are messed up at the moment so I don’t know how good that would be for them. (excuse #4). And I don’t have a decent jump rope. (excuse #5). Guess I could add one to my list of things to buy. Well I have some time to think this part over at least…
The Plan: Equip myself for the job, recon the current situation and then start the calorie cutting / exercise regiment. I’m beginning to regret this decision already…
